Popular Music Research: Biographical information

Here are some databases where you can look up information about specific performers. They may or may not include bands.

Wikipedia is a great resource for popular music but:

• don't directly cite it
• use the sources at the bottom of he page for further reading for possible references  
• be careful to fact-check information in Wikipedia--use it more to find sources than as hard information

If a performer is not well known, find interviews. You can find these on popular blogs and websites for the performer's genre of music, for example, Rolling Stone or The Source, Magazine of Hip Hop Music, Culture and Politics which you would search. Google doesn't always find everything.
