Signs a book is scholarly

  • The book has an editor (or editors)
  • The author (or authors) have academic credentials
  • The publisher is a university or academic press
  • There are reference cited
  • There are facts or tables
  • There is an index

 

Scholarly Journal

Signs a Journal is Scholarly

  • The content is very specific to one area of study
  • The authors are scholars / experts
  • The articles are peer reviewed before publication
  • Facts and other research is cited in the articles
